Kim Wainscoat has been within the fashion industry since she was only fourteen years old and is one of the 'It Girls' of Perth. With modelling still in sight and still apart of her everyday life she has found a new passion, to hopefully one day own her very own cooking show… However with that said "who knows what my dream might be next week though haha, I just hope I can find happiness in whatever I do!"
Never lose your curiosity and will to learn.
At the age of 20 Kim Wainscoat has had her fair share of modelling jobs but the ones she has enjoyed the most are the free ones! She's told us she tends to find they're stress free and when you're with a good team and know that the photos are going to be beneficial to everyone it sets a creative mood, "that's the best." With her new concept 'Kim Likes Food' we decided to check it out and watch the Teaser and we just can't get enough, expect big things from Miss Wainscoat!
Being able to talk with Kim has allowed us to get to know her on a deeper level than what we see in her photos and in saying that she is one of the most relaxed and laid-back people we've come across, we couldn't help but have a giggle at some things she said.
See below for our exclusive talk with the one and only Kim!

Name: Kim Wainscoat
Age: 20
Agency: Chadwick Models
How long have you been with Chadwicks for?
6 years
How did you get signed?
I first started classes at Chadwick's when I was 13 just for fun and once I turned 14 they signed me!
What did you want to do when you were younger?
I still change my mind on this weekly, I just keep finding new cool things that I never knew existed. However throughout primary school I wanted to be a teacher, a nurse or a chef but most of all a Spice Girl!
What ethnicity are you? Do you find this gives you an advantage/disadvantage in the industry?
My mum is English/Italian and my dad is Aussie/English. Yeah I find it's totally an advantage being a mongrel in this industry…dual passports and i think the more left of centre you look the better. I think I'm normal looking but the bleached hair sometimes makes people ask where I'm from.
Do you have any inspirations or anyone you look up too?
My parents, their really good people who just want me to be happy in what I do, along with my manager Tanya Muir for helping keep grounded in this industry from such a young age.
Is there a reason why you want to be a model?
I like the creative side of it; letting yourself go with a good team and trying to potray their vision of the character that they want you to be on that shoot.
Do you enjoy modelling?
I've definitely had my ups and downs with it as I'm sure any model out there would. I like that it has allowed me to travel beyond my home bubble and live in some cool places and meet and work with even cooler people. It made me grow up fast from school. I like it though, I feel like I've learnt things no book I was forced to read in school could of taught me. I prefer talking to real people and hearing their stories.
Do you take criticism well?
I think the tolerance to criticism grows over time; I've been criticised by probably every kind of person in the industry either to my face, behind my back or heard things that I wasn't meant to. This does sound harsh but its so normal. You're in a harsh industry where you need to meet a particular standard and if you don't then cya later. What really matters is how you actually take in the criticism… listen and ignore, listen and feel sorry for yourself, or listen and improve, its brutally your choice.
Is there any criticisms you'd give the fashion/modelling industry?
I feel as though its improved a lot since I even started. These days there is set out breaks and good catering provided, yes there is still the every now and then shoot where you are working all day and only lollies and chips are thrown at you with no break but deadlines need to be met in photoshoots and you just do what you have to do. The only criticisms I could give is that I've heard so many overseas models complaining about payment issues, agencies lying about holding back money and sometimes the models never even seeing the money because of loopholes in their contract where the agency always comes out on top. I'm lucky that with my agency Chadwicks this has never been an issue.
Are you on a strict diet to maintain you physique?
This has definitely been an issue with me in the past, I'm glad I'm at a point now where I can admit it and see where I went wrong. I've under eaten, over exercised, obsessed, binged, yo-yo, dieted…. you name it and I've probably been there. If your not naturally thin like me then you really need to figure out what really suits your body and provides it with sufficient nutrients otherwise your always going to be fighting it. I'm now feeling the most balance in my life than I ever have! I'm vegetarian, eat whole foods and ones that are mainly unprocessed as possible…. free of the nasties. That may sound strict to some people but I'm just stripping foods back to the way their meant to be; real, preservative free and nourishing. For the exercise side of things i work part time (always on my feet), go to the gym 2-3 times a week and other than that i might go for a walk or swim at the beach when I feel like it. I mainly rely on my diet for overall health.
Do you do anything other than modelling?
I'm currently working on a YouTube channel/website called 'Kim Likes Food' which will be my sharing some of my favourite healthy recipes and who knows what else to come. I just want to educate people on the importance of their health really. This is taking up most of my free time at the moment but its for me and i enjoy doing it.
For aspiring girls or even models what's some advice you'd give them about the industry?
You'll go into it with an idea of what it is and you'll come out of it knowing something different. You'll learn things, a lot of things…. you will probably learn to appreciate your own company if you travel with it which in my opinion is a good life skill to have. If you think you have a passion for the industry then try get into it, you have nothing to lose and I think you will soon find out if its right for you or not.
An interesting fact about yourself?
I'm missing a chromosome and i broke my collarbone doing a hand stand in the lounge room
If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only talk 3 things what would they be?
my best friend and a supermarket and a pet
Favorite movie?
i think i would be Matilda, i watched it sooo many times
Worst fear?
not making the most out of my time
